Sierra Horton, MSW, Supervisee In Social Work

Sierra Horton, MSW, Supervisee in Social Work, grounds her work in the understanding that each person carries layered identities and lived experiences that shape how they navigate life. She aims to create a space where clients feel deeply seen and understood, and believes in sharing knowledge to help build self-awareness and practical tools for managing stress, growth, and change.

Sierra earned her BS in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington and a Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. As a first-generation college graduate and published researcher, she brings both lived experience and academic depth to her practice. Her research has primarily focused on the psychological and social impacts of sexual trauma, including PTSD.

Sierra is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and blends both cognitive and body-based techniques based on each client's specific needs. She takes a broad view of mental health, considering how culture, family, and social influences play a role. Her approach is both caring and direct, offering a safe space for clients to explore their experiences, develop strengths, and move forward with greater confidence.

Sierra works with individuals navigating common life transitions, identity exploration, sexual trauma, stress, PTSD, and processing various adverse life experiences. She is LGBTQIA+ affirming and committed to creating a space where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered.
